Hike Mweelrea via 'The Ramp'

Connaucht's Highest Peak 

The Connemara region, west of Galway city is an area of savage beauty and a walkers paradise. Beyond that Mweelrea sits proudly as Connaught's tallest mountain over looking the majestic Killary Fjiord 

A steady gradual uphill to the summit of Mweelrea (814m). Walking off from the summit back the way we came, The hike descent will be via ‘the ramp’ an exposed ledge at the beginning to make our way into large atmospheric corrie toward Doo Lough. 

Please note: this route has some exposed sections. 

What do you need to bring?

- Waterproof walking boots with good ankle support
- Waterproof Jacket & trousers (The irish weather can be very unpredictable!)
- Comfortable clothes to walk in (No Jeans)
- Warm layer
- Lunch & Snacks
- 1.5-2lts of water
- Comfortable rucksack
- Any medication needed e.g. Inhaler
