Tonalagee Evening Hike - 23 June 2021
The group will meet at 3:30pm at the Wicklow Gap Car park, after introductions and a brief outline of the day we shall get started. The route will follow Madmans path to Brockagh Mountain (609m).
From here we cross undulating open mountainside to where Lough Ouler flows into Lough Brook. Then Climbing to the Summit of Tonelagee (817m), plenty of photo opportunities here around Lough Ouler (heart shaped lake), Tonlagee NE top and across the Wicklow Mountains in all directions.
Descending from here back toward the Wicklow Gap Car park.
Please note this route can be very boggy at certain times of the year, especially out in the open mountainside.
Breaks & Lunch spots will depend on weather, groups ability and speed.
What you need to bring?
- Waterproof walking boots with good ankle support
- Waterproof Jacket & trousers (The irish weather can be very unpredictable!)
- Comfortable clothes to walk in
- Warm layer
- Lunch & Snacks
- 1.5-2lts of water
- Comfortable rucksack
- Any medication needed e.g. Inhaler

Meeting Location - Wicklow Gap Carpark
To get to this carpark you need to keep right at the entrance to Glendalough following the R756. Continue for a little over 5 minutes driving. You will pass the entrance to Turlough Hill reservoir. There are 2 carparks on the left to choose from. We will meet roughly between the two.
